Getting the process going

Get a live demo and Q&A session

We highly recommend kick starting your work with the User Interface Library by scheduling a live session with our User Interface Library Team. You can share your requirements in advance, and the team will tailor the live session precisely to your needs.

Get the tools

The library was created in the InVision Design System Manager (DSM). Designers will also need the Sketch app and the CRAFT plugin. Developers will need to add Storybook, Bitbucket and Node Package Manager (NPM). To learn why we use these tools and where you can get them, please see the User Interface Library guides For Designers or For Developers.

Get access

Once you have installed the tools, we will be happy to give you access to the library. Please send an email to the product owner.

Get familiar and get going

Check out “Get Started” in InVision DSM to familiarize yourself with the library and begin using the components in your projects. If you don’t find what you are looking for or would like to add something to the library, please contact the User Interface Library Team.

Creating new components

Use this simple review and approval process to guide you.
As a global company, many teams from all over the world will use the library. To ensure everyone uses it consistently, we have created a Kanban board in Trello to visualize and track the various stages of the process of adding new components to the User Interface Library, such as:

  • Creating new component tickets, including general needs in terms of process or documentation
  • Design and coding phase
  • Documentation in DSM and import as code snippets into the library, where new component can be used via the CRAFT plugin
  • Review call (with 1 or 2 members of each team) to review and approve the work when needed
